Bright, light yellow color. The nose is subtle, with notes of citrus and acacia. As the nature of the soil suggests, the style here is more 'Chablisien' than 'Mâconnais': the palate is taut, saline, with a tight, intense texture enhanced by a fine bitterness. The finish is long and fresh.
At the southernmost tip of Burgundy, the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation covers 800 ha, 194 of which will be classified as Premiers Crus from the 2020 vintage. The villages of Chaintré, Fuissé, Solutré-Pouilly and Vergisson make up its exclusive production area, in an exceptional natural setting: the world-famous rocks of Solutré and Vergisson, Jurassic limestone spurs culminating at 495 m and classified as a "Grand Site de France". Château de Beauregard's 1er Cru VERS CRAS is an austere, windy plateau at an altitude of 250 m, sloping gently to the EAST on the municipal boundary between Fuissé and Solutré-Pouilly. This topography and the very stony white limestone soils of the Upper Oxfordian are conducive to an intense, mineral expression of the Chardonnay grape.
