Bright, light yellow color. The nose is expressive, with notes of acacia flower, citrus fruit and pear. The palate is fresh, taut and slightly saline, with a tight, well-balanced texture enhanced by harmonious generosity. The delicate yet concentrated marine finish is underlined by lemony notes.
At the southernmost tip of Burgundy, the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation covers 800 hectares, 194 of which will be classified as Premiers Crus from the 2020 vintage. The villages of Chaintré, Fuissé, Solutré-Pouilly and Vergisson make up its exclusive production area, in an exceptional natural setting: the world-famous rocks of Solutré and Vergisson, Jurassic limestone spurs culminating at 495 m and classified as a "Grand Site de France". The LA MARECHAUDE 1er Cru is situated on the steep, brown, clayey limestone soils of the Roche de Vergisson, at an altitude of around 350 m, facing South/South-West, derived from very stony, deep slope deposits or scree, mainly on grey-blue, slightly calcareous marls of the ancient Jurassic at 80-100 cm. This type of soil and topography leads to wide temperature variations, ideal for the finest expression of Chardonnay.
