The terroir and natural, low-intervention winemaking methods allow for a pure expression of Chardonnay, with toasty, buttery notes, richness on the palate and surprising length for a Mâcon.
Château du Clos is one of the first estates of the Pouilly-Fuissé to become organic certified in 2013. Its 3 ha vineyard is a true Burgundian Clos surrounding the Château, mainly made of Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru ‘POUILLY’ (2 ha), as well as Pouilly-Fuissé (0.75 ha) and Mâcon-Solutré-Pouilly (0.25 ha). The average age of the vines is more than 50 years and some plots were planted before World War 2. Its soils of brown clay and scree lying on calcareous marls are favouring the production of great white wines of Burgundy, complex, intense and able to age a long time.
