Often underestimated or consumed with blackcurrants, the Aligoté grape can nevertheless produce beautiful, lively, taut white wines: a delicate citrus nose with hints of yellow fruit. The palate is very expressive, with a pure expression of the grape variety's finesse. Resting on a fine mineral framework, the balance is perfect, quite lively, and the wine has a lovely mouthfeel. Drink within 3 years.
Located in Milly-Lamartine, the home village of the great poet Alphonse de LAMARTINE (1790-1869), Domaine de la Rochette comprises 8 hectares planted at altitude (300-400 m) on the pure limestone of the 'Montagne de Cra' or the steep slopes of 'Mont Sard' in Bussières. These exceptional terroirs feature 17 (long) rows (40 ares) of old vines of the old Burgundian grape variety 'Aligoté', planted on sloping clay-limestone soils with northeast exposure, producing a fine, subtle white wine of the highest quality.
